Aminu Kurfi has emerged the hero of Nigeria Sports and must be considered for National honours because of his selfless services to humanity especially at a time like this when other football administrators battle for a seat in the executive committee of the NFF.
The Chairman of Katsina state football Association couldn’t have picked a better time to announce himself to the world as he arrived Caddiff City FC in Wales looking very excited after completing his tour of Spain where he met injured Real Sociadad of Spain Striker, Sadiq Umar.
The visit to Wales is not for sight seeing, rather, he was there to see another injured Nigerian international Jamilu Collins, who is also recuperating after a few months out injured.
Jamilu used the opportunity to thank the NFF technical Committee member for the visit and called on other members of the NFF executive committee, the sports ministry and Nigerians to show Nigeria players love at all time, saying, it is not only when we are wearing the Green White Green jersey of the Super Eagles that they should see us as Nigerians.
During his visit to Sadiq, Kurfi emphasized the need for sports administrators to think more about the players, saying if not for the footballers, there will not be a football house.
“For me, the players must come first. I decided not to pick a form for the fast approaching NFF Election not because I am not qualified but because I feel that as administrators, we have failed in our promise to this great country. Our failure to qualify Nigeria for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is a monumental setback. Nigerians have not forgiven us for the failure yet we are all out again, few months later, jostling for political offices”.
“I have chosen this period to remember our heroes and I am using my money to tour Europe just to see these injured players and remind them that Nigerians still love them”
In Caddiff, Dan Arewa, as his admirers call him, told Jamilu that the NFF and indeed all Nigerians are praying fervently for him to overcome his injury and return to the field stronger and better. He admonished the player to continue to give his utmost best to his club and fatherland anytime he gets the opportunity to do so.
If time permits, Kurfi could visit Italy to see Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen who is also nursing a minor injury
